Lighthouse update May 11
Finding websites and feeds for specific topics is often talked about as a major problem for RSS and all products in that space. With TikTok, Instagram, and other platforms, discovering new accounts to follow is built into the platforms. Compared to that, discovering websites and feeds is much harder.
So I’m quite proud to share that Lighthouse now has a much better discovery experience. There are now ~120000 feeds in the system, categorized into ~6000 topics.
In addition to that, the feed finding and subscribing experience was improved. It’s now much more intuitive to use.
In the discover page you can search for topics, or websites directly. The found feeds also show metadata about when the last article was published, and how many articles are published on average.
It’s possible to instant subscribe directly in the discover page, or subscribe via the dedicated feed subscribe page, which also shows additional information and a preview of the latest items.
